Calls for papers: Doctoral Research Conference Thursday 2 November 2023, Windsor Building 9:30am-4pm
We are delighted to invite doctoral researchers from across disciplines at all stages to submit abstracts for paper presentations, posters and other media for the Doctoral Research Conference. This interdisciplinary conference aims to provide a platform for emerging scholars to present their cutting-edge research, engage in meaningful academic discussions, network with peers and experienced academics and build lasting connections within the academic community.
Conference Focus: Fostering research collaboration and community through emerging research and innovative research.
Key Dates:
- Monday 9 October 12pm Abstract Submission Deadline (250-300 words)
- Monday 23 October Programme communicated
- Monday 30 October 12pm slides for presentations to be sent to pgrtrainingrhul.ac.uk
- Thursday 2 November 9:30am – 4pm Conference (registration to attend conference to be sent in October)
Submission Categories:
- We welcome submissions in all fields of study.
- To encourage both emerging and advanced research, we welcome shorter and longer presentations. Therefore, please tell us if you would like to have a 3-, 10- or 20-minute presentation slot.
The presentations will be grouped into themed sessions, and we will create the themes based on the submissions. We particularly encourage new researchers, who may have just started this September, to present their research ideas in a low pressure, friendly and supportive environment.
- We further welcome printed posters to be displayed during the day in the Windsor Foyer and you can also show your research in most other media such as film and art.*
Prizes will be awarded in different categories.

- Develop your confidence: Presenting in the low-pressure supportive environment will help to develop your confidence in public speaking and articulate your research to a broad audience.
- Feedback and Improvement: Receive constructive feedback from the academic community across different disciplines and fellow researchers to enhance your research, develop new ideas and practice for winter/spring conferences.
- Opportunities to work together: Connect with peers, academic community, and potential collaborators, fostering valuable relationships within or across your field/s.
- Professional Development: Participate in table discussions, chair panels, and listen to innovative research providing insight into latest research trends and methodologies.
Submission Guidelines:
- Abstracts should be 250-300 words in length and include the research objectives, methods (if known), and expected outcomes. Please include keywords at the top of the abstract. PowerPoint to supplement your talk or paper presentation is optional (please bring a USB if using PowerPoint)
- Fill in this form to submit your abstract by the deadline.
- Poster sizes are A0 or A1 and suggested printers are Solopress
- Presentations should be accessible to an interdisciplinary audience and are primarily on campus.
