Join Sharon Elliot from The Researcher Development Partnership on this 5 week online course starting 18 May 13:30-15:30 and every Wednesday for 5 weeks (18, 25 May, 1, 8, 15, June)

Session 1: Understanding the context – politics, social, economic.  Locating academic careers within structures and discrimination. Contextualising and exploring Feminism and Patriarchy.

 

Session 2: Identity.  Understanding, acknowledging and addressing the barriers we face individually and collectively (including safety (campus/digitally/professional etc).  Identifying diversity (intersectionality).  Auditing institutions. Considering career progression/academic excellence/value/life balance and the barriers and challenges we face.  What does success look like.

 

Session 3: Leadership:  Good models, broken models. Theories of Leadership, Theories of Change. Exploring feminist Leadership  - leading with purpose.  Mindset and authenticity leadership.

 

Session 4: Leading yourself and others. Developing practical approaches and ideas to lead and drive change.  Explore personal impact and how to work with others (leadership and collaboration).  Creating opportunities and challenging prejudice.  Developing leadership mindset & skillset.

 

Session 5: Developing leadership identity.  Holding yourself and others to account.  Creating personal and shared action plans.  Being part of the bigger picture, networks, relationships and compassion.  Sustainability – including your own!
