Video and YouTube content - How do I add it to a webpage?

If your department has a YouTube channel, we recommend uploading your videos to this before adding them to Contensis. When uploaded,  click edit the video; you will see a screen like this:

On the right-hand side it says video URL. This is the URL that you will need for Contensis so copy it.

Then, go to the page where you would like to embed the video on Contensis. Right-click where you would like the video to be, select webcontrols, multimedia then video player.

A box like this will then appear:

Paste the YouTube URL into the Video URL field. You can also choose an image that will appear on the video player when the video isn’t being watched by browsing for a preview image and by scrolling down you can adjust the width and height of the player, this should match the aspect ratio of your video. For the right-hand column, the width is 220px and height is 130px for a 16:9 video. If you need any help with player sizes or placeholder images please contact the IT Service Desk

Click save and the video will be embedded in your webpage.

If you don’t have a YouTube channel, or would prefer to internally host a video, we provide our own media streaming server. Please send the video file(s) you would like uploaded to itservicedesk@rhul.ac.uk. If the files are too large, put them on your W drive.

Once uploaded, we will let you know the External Video URL. For internally hosted and streamed video, you will also need to set the Streamer field to: rtmp://mediastream.rhul.ac.uk/vod/media/wcms/
