The Corporate Games


Our College is set to host the UK Corporate Games, Europe’s largest multi-sport festival for businesses, from Thursday 1 – Sunday 4 September 2022. Companies of any size can enter and there are no restrictions on participants sporting ability. Every year thousands of participants represent hundreds of organisations in a weekend of unrivalled sports and celebrations. There are 52 organisations taking part in the Games this year, including Deloitte, JP Morgan, Sky, Royal Air Force, John Lewis, Barclays, Easy Jet, Bupa Healthcare, New Balance, and many more.

Sports taking place over the weekend include Badminton, Basketball, Dragon Boat, Golf, Hockey, Karting, Netball, Poker, Running, Football, Softball, Squash, Table Tennis, Tennis, Tenpin Bowling and Volleyball. 

As a College, we have entered 10 teams consisting of 57 colleagues in total from across our College, who be participating across eight different events at the Games. Events colleagues are participating in include Badminton, Dragon Boats, Men's Football (two teams), Women's Football (two teams), Poker, Men's 10k run, Women's 10k run and Table Tennis. Thank you to all those who have signed up to participate in the Games to represent Team Royal Holloway!

If you're taking part in an event as part of the Corporate Games, below are some FAQs which you may find useful.




Is there a Royal Holloway team kit?

Yes, Royal Holloway team members are able to collect a Royal Holloway team t-shirt nearer the time from the Sports team which you will be able to keep. Below is a photo of the team kit:

If I am unavailable to take part in the games are there any other opportunities to play sport?

There will be staff training/meet ups for all the sports that we can accomidate for in the build up to the games. These are open to all staff, not just for those taking part in the Games. If you are interested in joining these events please email

Can I use the gym on the weekend of the Corportate games?

The gym will remain open for the duration of the event, but please be aware that parking will be limited.

How fit do I have to be?

The most important thing about taking part in the Corporate Games is participation and having fun. Each team will hvae the opportunity to train prior to their event. If you do have any concerns about your physical health and fitness, please see your GP.


Taking part in the Corporate Games

How many participants are expected to be on campus from the 1-4 September?

There are expected to be 1,500 participants attending the Corporate Games in total.

I’m due to work over this weekend. Can I still take part in the Games?

You will need to ask your line manager; while leave cannot be guaranteed, line managers will try their best to accomodate requests.

How can I get involved if I don't want to play sport?

You can attend the Corporate Games as a spectator as there will be plenty of sports to watch. A schedule of events can be downloaded here.

Are their any paid employment opportunities at the Games?

There have been opportunities for students both via Careers and the Student Ambassador Scheme.

Can I claim time off in lieu?

No - the events take place over the weekend; if those are normal working days, you will need to ask your line manager to approve leave.

How can I request funding for the delivery of an event at the Corporate Games?

If you are likely to incur costs in the delivery of the Corporate Games which cannot be covered in BAU budgets, please download and complete this form.The form must be submitted in advance of incurring or committing to costs. Once completed, please send the form to Helen Earwaker.

Where will delegates be staying?

  • Corporate Games accommodation will be located at South Campus in Gowar, Wedderburn, Tuke, Reid, Runnymede 1 and 2
  • There may also be a small number of rooms in use at Founder’s
  • All bedrooms are ensuite
  • Staff who wish to stay overnight are able to book The Hub with the standard staff discount.

What support will there be for delegates staying on campus?

  • There will be a presence from Residential Services staff over the weekend of Saturday 3 – Sunday 4 September who can assist with light maintenance tasks should this necessary. They can be contacted via Hub Reception. 
  • Delegates should be advised to visit or call Hub Reception on 01784 443285 in the event of any requests or issues with their accommodation. 
  • The residential cleaning contractor, BBCS, are contactable on 07970 488805.

How are we showcasing opportunties at our College?

A Corporate Marketplace event is being held on Friday 2 September from 4-10pm in the Windsor Building. This is an opportunity for departments across our College to showcase what Royal Holloway can offer to businesses in terms of hosting events, creating partnerships etc. Departments showcasing include the Careers Service, Catering and Conference Services, PGT Admissions, Volunteering, and Enterprise Hub/Challenge-led research impact/knowledge exchange. 

What information have we shared with the local community around the Games?

The Corporate Games were referenced in the last Royal Holloway and Runnymede Consultative Group forum meeting in June. It was also shared in our Community Matters newsletter in May/June.

Which catering outlets will be open during the Corporate Games and what are their opening hours?

Parking on campus

Where can I park on campus when the Corporate Games are taking place?

Main campus will be busy during the Corporate Games, therefore colleagues not competing in the Games are asked to park in campus car parks on the north A30, including Harvest Road Church, car park 14 and in parking areas around Highfield and Penrose. At peak times during the Games, traffic marshals will be on duty to assist with traffic flow. Blue badge holders will still be able to park in any DDA bay across campus.

Social events

Are there any social events happening as part of the Corporate Games?

There is a Welcome Festival for participants taking place in Founder's South Quad on Saturday 3 September from 4-9pm, and the Great Games party for participants taking place in Medicine on Saturday 3 September from 9.30pm-2am. Tickets for both events can be purchased through the Corporate Games. Further details will be shared nearer the time.
