Altmetrics for Institutions – Lunch training session
This 1.5 hour lunch session will introduce you to Altmetric Explorer (AE) for Institutions - a new tool that tracks links to Royal Holloway’s research outputs in key non-academic sources online, such as social media platforms, major news and policy sources and influential blogs. The data will be useful in supporting academic colleagues’ and departments’ work on knowledge exchange, communication and engagement with research, and collection of evidence of research impact whether for internal purposes, reporting to funders of REF case studies.
The session will help you:
- Understand the basics of Altmetrics and the Altmetric Explorer tool
- Learn how to access and analyse data about your own research outputs
- Explore the different dimensions of data analysis, for example by type of external source (e.g. policy, patents, news, blogs, social media, syllabi), trends over time, and engagement by country/continent
- Find out how to use the global Altmetric database to analyse engagement with the work of other HEIs in your research area
Basic lunch will be offered at 11.45am so please come early (as we are not allowed to take food into PC labs). This training session will take place in International Building Room 006.
