What is it?

Organisations and individuals are often made to feel that they should understand disability. This is impossible if they have never been given the knowledge about it. Disability Awareness Training ensures staff are able to feel comfortable with disability when supporting students and colleagues by providing the skills, tools and practical know how.

Target audience

All staff

Programme objectives

To ensure that all individuals are appropriately supported, whether students or employees, Royal Holloway must ensure that all staff are confident to engage with disabled individuals, including implementing adjustments and providing the relevant support.

Programme components

We encourage interaction in a jargon free, relaxed and fun learning environment. Our disability awareness course will utilise real life experience, personal reflection and peer discussion. We also have multiple activities for delegates to engage in which includes group work, scenarios, videos, demonstrations, role-play and communication tasks. We encourage honesty and transparency in our training and we aim to challenge the myths that are often associated with disability.

Course length

Half-day course.
