What is it?

An interactive 3-hour workshop that provides the opportunity to learn about LGBTQ+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer/Questioning +) identities, gender and sexuality, and examine prejudice and privilege.It is recommended for individuals who want to learn more about how they can contribute to creating a safer environment for everyone, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender expression. The session is designed for individuals who want to become LGBTQ+ Allies and those who want to be LGBT+ Role Models.

Target audience

The workshop is aimed at all staff (academic and professional services) regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity. The course will support straight and cisgender people to learn how to be better allies, and also LGBTQ+ people to learn more about how to be better allies to those within the community, including how to be an LGBTQ+ Role Model.

Programme objectives

  • Enable people to explore the concepts of sexuality and gender regardless of whether people are L, G, B, T and/or Q or whether they are straight and/or cisgender.
  • Provide a safe space for people to ask questions, be vulnerable, and learn about LGBTQ identities and issues.
  • Empower individuals to be confident to communicate to others that they are open to talking about and being supportive of LGBTQ individuals and identities.
  • Highlight the importance of demonstrating commitment to creating LGBTQ-inclusive environments.

Half day course.
