What is it?

Throughout academia there is a growing emphasis on research impact and knowledge exchange, whether in funding calls, university promotion structures and public attitudes to research. How can we work with partners outside academia for mutual benefit? How can relationships with non-academic partners support our research while maximising its impact in society? This session will give you a grounding in research impact and knowledge exchange: what these are, how these relate to each other (and other terms, like “technology transfer” and “public engagement”), what difference these activities make – and how to succeed in this area.
