Our Code of Practice for the Research Excellence Framework (REF) describes how Royal Holloway will ensure transparency, consistency, accountability and inclusivity in the key processes of preparing our submission.
As a College, we are delighted to announce that the REF 2021 Equality and Diversity Panel (EDAP) and Research England have formally accepted our Code of Practice and its commitment to equality and diversity.
We submitted the Code on 7 June, and even before then we started to implement the processes within it – tailored training in Unconscious Bias for all REF decision makers, and Equality Impact Assessments (EIAs) for Selection of Outputs, Determination of Research Independence and Declaration of Staff Circumstances.
Each of these processes is now underway, and we will be monitoring the results for equality in October and November.
You can find the Code of Practice and the EIAs here.
