On Tuesday 13 July, the Principal Professor Layzell, visited Collingwood College, Camberley, to present Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant’s Awards to two students.
Kian (left) and Max (right) were nominated by Assistant Head Nic Everson and Royal Holloway’s Higher Education Outreach Network Officer Jonathan Baldwin for their amazing contributions to the local community.
Kian, a keen engineering student, used 3D printers to create PPE for local businesses, NHS centres, and nursing homes. Max, now at Farnborough Sixth Form and pursuing a career in Medicine, used his part-time paper round to form a network of residents to whom he gave his support – from shopping on their behalf to topping up electricity meters.
Both students were presented their awards in front of their families and staff at Collingwood, and also received a £50 National Book Token.
We recently caught up with Royal Holloway’s Higher Education Outreach Network Officer, Jonathan Baldwin, to find out about the award, and more about his work with local schools. Discover more.
