Following an internal recruitment process, Directors for two of the Catalysts have been appointed, initially for a three year term.
Professor James Bennett (top left), will lead the Catalyst on Digital futures in the creative and cultural industries. This Catalyst builds on the outstanding success of the StoryFutures projects. Professor John Saunders (top right), will lead the Catalyst on Advanced Quantum Science and Technology. This will build on the strong existing work in Physics, linking with research in Electronic Engineering, Information Security, Computer Science and Mathematics. In both cases there are existing strong partnerships with outside organisations. The intention is that the Catalysts will bring together colleagues to develop new ideas for research, linking up with funding opportunities.
Senior Vice Principal Ken Badcock said “I am excited about the achievements and potential of these Research areas at the College, and look forward to working with James and John to strengthen these areas.”
Professor Klaus Dodds (bottom left), and Professor Keith Mayes (bottom right), are interim directors driving the formation of the Living Sustainably and Transformative digital technologies, security and society Catalysts respectively and the College plans to recruit replacement Directors, for a three year period, by the end of this year.
