On 26 June at Sheffield DocFest 2022, TV presenter, historian and Executive Producer David Olusoga took part in a panel event chaired by presenter, author and academic Emma Dabiri to mark the launch of StoryTrails, the UK’s largest immersive storytelling project. On the panel were Sheffield-based creatives Gemma Thorpe and Sile Sibanda, whose work can be seen in the city this summer, and Angela Chan from StoryFutures, alongside members of key partner organisations such as BFI and Nexus Studios.

The project opened in Omagh on Friday 1 July with members of the public able to engage with a bespoke augmented reality story trail, virtual reality experiences and an immersive emotional map of the town created using 3D scans of local buildings, people, objects and areas, telling stories of local people viewed on a cycloramic cinema screen. The project is one of ten commissions for Unboxed:Creativity in the UK, which covers 15 towns and cities across the UK until September.
