Our College was honoured to host author and activist Winnie M Li for our inaugural celebration of East and South East Asian Heritage Month in September.

Winnie spoke candidly with Dr Shzr Ee Tan and Chloe Lee about her experience as a sexual assault survivor, exploring this in her novels Dark Chapter and Complicit, and racial, gender and parental stereotyping of ESEA identities.

One attendee commented: "It was inspiring and thought-provoking to hear a survivor speak from a really balanced and secure perspective...I also found it really interesting to hear and learn about the experiences Winnie and the panelists have faced with regards to cultural differences and the sense of 'belonging'."

Colleagues can watch the full recording of the session on YouTube (content warning: discussion of sexual assault, mild swearing).
