On Wednesday 31 January, our International Student Recruitment team hosted 14 of Royal Holloway’s educational agents for a mini Representatives’ Conference. The agents were mostly UK based, either responsible for recruiting international students from the UK or from branch offices with their head offices in other countries such as China, Pakistan, Hong Kong, Saudi Arabia, Japan and Canada.
Following a formal welcome to the conference by Marie Ennis, Director of Marketing and Communications, updates were delivered by the International Recruitment team, Admissions, the International Study Centre, followed by a presentation from one of our Media Arts PhD students, Sophia Zhang, who spoke about her experience as a postgraduate at Royal Holloway. In addition, Dr Tom Wainwright, Reader from the School of Management, delivered an engaging presentation about Digital Disruption in the Retail Sector and related it to the student recruitment sector – which was well received by the delegates and sparked interesting discussion.
After the conference, the delegates were taken for dinner at Footstools restaurant at St John Smith’s Square and Dr David Ashton, officially thanked them for their work on behalf of Royal Holloway, then all joined the St John's Smith Square Concert event – which was very well received.
