There may be external policies that determine the length of time your data should be stored after the project is complete:
- Funder's requirements: for example, EPSRC stipulates that research resulting from their grants must be "securely preserved for a minimum of 10 years after the data was last requested by a third party". For more information, please consult the page on Funders' requirements.
- Legislative requirements, such as the Data Protection Act, stipulating the length required for data retention.
- Data provider's requirements: data providers can specify in the Data Transfer Agreement conditions about how data should be stored and for how long.
- Data stored within the Royal Holloway Figshare Data Archive will be stored for ten years and then reviewed.
