My main role is Programme Leader for the Programme in Skills of Teaching to Inspire Learning (inSTIL). I am also a member of the programme team for CAPITAL (Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice in Teaching and Learning) and TALENT, and I am involved in other EDC professional development activities.
I have a background in EAP (English for Academic Purposes) teaching, managing and teacher development overseas and in the UK, across a range of sectors and institutions, taking on a variety of teaching, development and administrative roles at undergraduate and post-graduate level, including Curriculum Manager (Education) at Inverness UHI and Teacher Developer in the DPRK and Mongolia. After my last period of teaching overseas, on UCL’s Foundation Programme in Kazakhstan, I returned to the UK in 2015 to work in academic and learning & teaching development at SOAS, with brief spells at King’s, the IoE and City, before arriving at the beautiful campus of RHUL.
My qualifications include a BA (Hons) in English (Manchester University), an MA in Comparative Education (the Institute of Education), and a PG Cert in Practice-based research methods in educational technology (Open University). I hold several teaching and training qualifications including the Diploma in TESOL, the Certificate in Education in FE Teaching, and HEA Fellowship. I also speak several languages (as you might guess from above - try me!).
