Events toolkit - Online events

Online events

An online event is one where individuals experience the event and its content online rather than gathering in-person. Online events can range from small meetings and group sessions to large-scale conferences with thousands of attendees.

  • concerts
  • conferences
  • hybrid events
  • lectures
  • networking
  • open days

Any event which takes place at a physical location can be turned into an online event. In addition to events that take place completely online, hybrid events combine elements of virtual events with elements of a live event to engage both virtual and live audiences.

MS Teams

The College's platform for live-streamed events is MS Teams  It allows you to instantly go from group chat to video conference with the touch of a button. MS Teams gives you the opportunity to host an online event for up to 10,000.  It is also very easy to find, share and edit files using Word, PowerPoint, and Excel in Microsoft Teams.

Eventbrite can be used to create and host online events. When you create your event, set the location to “Online”. This lets you set up a dedicated online event page to show the link to your livestream and other resources attendees need. Only registered attendees can access the page.

Add any resources attendees need to attend your event. Add live video with Eventbrite's zoom integration or link to another video provider.

Some benefits of Eventbrite:

Attendees can find and register for your event, they can find your online event page from:

  • the confirmation email they get after registering
  • the event listing on Eventbrite (after registering)
  • the email reminders they get before the event

Because your event is online, attendees all over the world can register for it. They'll even see the time of your event in their timezone so they know when to attend.

Attendees get a link to your online event page.

Attendees sign in to view your content. By default, attendees must log in with their Eventbrite account to view the online event page.
