Health and safety training


Safe workplaces are unlikely to be achieved unless those who work there are informed of the need to work safely and trained to ensure that they know how to operate safely.

Initially, on their first day of employment, all new members of staff should receive health and safety induction training (usually provided by their manager or Health and Safety Co-ordinator) which will inform them of the College and departmental health and safety issues and how they are managed.

In addition, specialist training will also be provided to those who may be subjected to potential risk to their health and safety, in order that they are able to recognise and manage such risks. This would include, for example, training in the minimisation of risk arising from the use of chemicals, radiation, manual handling and display screen equipment.
