To help academics meet the next REF OA requirements and ensure the quality of Pure records for the REF, the Library provides a REF full-text validation process in Pure. Once a document is added to Pure, library staff will check the details of the attached document to ensure that it meets the REF OA eligibility criteria and the publisher's OA policy. They will email the author in case of any issues.
Once a full-text has been checked, the status of the Pure record will be changed to 'Validated'. Authors will still be able to make changes to the Pure record, especially once the publication is published and the full paper details (such as volume, issue number and DOI) need to be added. If a new version of the full-text is available, this should be added to the record as a new document (without removing the previous version). Once an author makes a change to a validated Pure record, the record will be marked 'For re-validation' and will be shown in the outputs list with a red label 'Revalidate'. This will be changed automatically once the library staff have checked the record.
The target is for REF full-text documents to be validated within 2 weeks from when they were added to Pure. If you have any questions about record and file checking for REF, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
