Disability at Royal Holloway

The College successfully assimilated into the Disability Confident Scheme at Level 2 in October 2016. The aims and objectives of the scheme are to:

  • challenge attitudes towards disability
  • increase understanding of disability
  • remove barriers to disabled people and those with long term health conditions in employment
  • ensure that disabled people have the opportunities to fulfill their potential and realise their aspirations

The Employee Assistance Program, available to all staff at Royal Holloway, can be used to offer further disability-related advice to staff members, or to offer counselling and more holistic support, as can the College Counselling Service. The Estates Department also works to ensure that the campus is as accessible as possible, making reasonable adjustments to the structure of the campus wherever they can.

Royal Holloway has a Disabled Staff Working Group which is Chaired by the Director of HR. It also runs a Staff Disability Forum, a support network available to all staff with disabilities which meets quarterly to discuss disability issues relating to staff.
