Future Leaders Programme

The Future Leaders Programme (FLP) is open to those with existing leadership responsibility, whether this involves formal line management or leading cross-functional teams and projects to create change. Each cohort will bring together participants from Academic and Professional Services with a view to enhancing collaboration and learning between these areas of the organisation.

The FLP will focus on:

  • Growing leadership capability in line with the changing demands of Higher Education and RHUL’s strategic priorities
  • Helping participants understand and develop their own leadership style
  • Developing skill, technique and confidence in managing and leading others
  • Increasing collaboration between Academic and Professional Services to foster a more collegiate culture
  • Equipping leaders to support their teams through the transformation journey
  • Providing opportunity to learn and test practical skills in a safe and supportive environment

The programme is designed and delivered in collaboration with Wickland Westcott, a leadership consultancy who have worked with a number of other HE institutions to develop leadership capability. Within a cohort of 12, participants will attend five one day modules over a six month period that focus on a range of critical aspects of leadership, linked to our new Leadership Behaviours Framework.  There will also be pre and post work to complete around the modules, including online leadership profiling questionnaires before the first event:

The five modules are:

  • Leading Yourself
  • Leading Others
  • Communicating a Shared Vision
  • Ensuring Delivery
  • Collaboration and Partnership

The programme will normally run twice each academic year, starting in September and in March.  For more information on this programme, please email orgdev@rhul.ac.uk
