Enabling women in the academic promotions process

What is it?

The Women Academic Promotion Programme consist of three half day workshops targeting women academics at Senior Lecturer or Reader level seeking to apply for promotion in the next few years.  

Workshop 1

  • Introduction
  • Promotion Process
  • Influences & consequences hindering women’s career progression
  • Group work

Workshop 2

  • Session with Role Models
  • A Woman representative on ASTC re: insights of the assessment process
  • Facilitated  review of individual’s CV

Summer Break : Submission of CV and application form to external assessors for evaluation of trial application

Workshop 3

  • Individual result of evaluation of trial applications conveyed to individuals  before workshop (when available)
  • Feedback on themes from all the evaluation results
  • Group work
  • Session on Action Learning

Note: Ideally participants should attend all the above workshops.

Target audience

This series of workshops is for women senior lecturers and readers wishing to apply for promotion.
