Important notices for Royal Holloway UCU Members

On the 16th March 2022 began balloting staff to take further industrial action over cuts to pensions and deteriorating pay and conditions. Please follow the blog for all the latest information.

In October 2021, RHUL UCU members voted in favour of strike action for disputes over USS and the Four Fights (working conditions and pay) and voted even more strongly in favour of  Action Short of a Strike (ASoS). UCU members at the College will therefore take industrial action in both disputes.

The plan for action is as follows.

1. Strike action

Strike days in December 2021, February and March 2022. Details can be found here.

2. Action short of a strike (ASoS)

We will take ASoS, starting with working to contract. Working to contract means abiding strictly to the terms that your contract of employment (or other formal documents relating to your employment) specify as your hours of work; breaks; workload; and/or other matters. Working to contract will start on 1st December 2021 and run until 3rd May 2022 (the end of the six month legal mandate for action) in branches with a mandate for ASoS.

For more information on strike meetings/teachouts/picketing/hardship payments etc. please see RHUL Strike FAQs including how to apply for financial help.
