Why did you want to become a Peer Guide Leader?: I wanted to be a Peer Guide Leader as it gave me the opportunity to help new students settle into university life, which from experience can be difficult. In this role, I can also support the Peer Guides themselves, to ensure that the transition into university is as smooth as possible. This is a social role, as it involves meeting new people and establishing a support network, so that both Peer Guides and students feel comfortable and can progress both academically and socially, which I enjoy as I love meeting new people.

How can having a Peer Guide help a new student?: Even if you don’t think you’ll need a Peer Guide, I would recommend requesting one. Especially in your first term, when you’re still figuring out university life, it’s reassuring to have a friendly face that you can go to if you have any issues or questions. This can range from good pubs in Egham, societies which are available, and even degree related questions. Your Peer Guide will mentor you, showing you the possibilities available to you, so that you can make the best decision for you.
