How to get routine medical help or advice at Royal Holloway

Coronavirus (COVID-19) update (March 2020)

The GP surgery team have provided some advice about changes to appointments at this time.  This means there will be a full telephone triage system for all appointments until further notice.  Please look the at Clarence Medical Centre website for all the latest information and guidance for patients.

The NHS and Public Health England (PHE) are extremely well prepared for outbreaks of new infectious diseases.  The NHS has put in place measures to ensure the safety of all patients and NHS staff whilst also ensuring services are available to the public as normal.

What to do if you have symptoms

Stay at home for 7 days if you have either:

  • a high temperature.
  • a new continuous cough.

Do not go to a GP surgery, pharmacy or hospital.  You do not need to contact NHS 111 to tell them you are staying at home.  Read the advice about staying at home

Use the NHS 111 online coronavirus service if:

  • you feel you cannot cope with your symptoms at home.
  • your condition gets worse.
  • your symptoms do not get better after 7 days.

Use the 111 coronavirus service

GP Surgery

There is an on-site GP surgery for students located on Founder's East 1st floor.  This is operated and managed as a branch GP surgery of the NHS Clarence Medical Centre in Windsor and is therefore a NHS provision and not a university service.

Contact the GP surgery

Clarence Medical offer all standard National Health Service (NHS) GP services for students registered as patients.  If you're not registered with the surgery already, it's really important that you register as soon as possible so you can make the most of their GP services throughout the year.  For general advice and medical updates please view the main Clarence Medical Centre website.

eConsult

Want advice from your GP, self help information or have an administrative request (e.g. a sick note or test results)? eConsult and get a response before the end of the next working day or sooner.

Get started with eConsult.

NHS App

The GP surgery team recommend patients download the official NHS app which supports and enhances many practice services.  On the app patients can self-register for online services including access to a summary of your medical records and the opportunity to order repeat medications.  You can download the app from the App Store or Google Play.

First Aid

Please note the practice is an appointment led GP surgery so for first aid you should contact your School or building first aider or campus security.  You can also contact the NHS on 111 for routine medical advice or triage.
