Media Arts Internships

1. Introduction to the scheme and eligibility

The internships have been set up to provide work experience for 2017 Royal Holloway graduates to help them get started in the graduate job market. The internships are mainly being run from within the academic and professional services (such as Community Action or Finance) departments at the university. There a wide range of Internships listed in the 'What internships are available?' section. More internships may be added until the end of November, so do keep reviewing the opportunities.

Eligibility for the internships:

  1. Students who graduated from a Royal Holloway undergraduate course or undergraduate course combined with an MSci year in 2017 will be eligible.
  2. We will not be able to sponsor visas for Non-UK/EU applicants so to be eligible you must have the right to work without visa sponsorship.
  3. We are also unable to accept applications from students currently on any Higher Education course.

It is our intention to award internships to those graduates who display a strong motivation to access professional work combined with a desire for self-development, so prior work experience in the area applied for will not usually be an important consideration.

Royal Holloway will help the 2017 graduates access the internships as much as possible, so please don't let issues like distance from Royal Holloway, a disability, caring commitments or lack of confidence deter you from applying. For instance, for many internships it will be possible to work from home some or most of the time. If you don’t have much work experience, our Careers Service mentors will support you with the transition into paid work.

Marketing Internships

2. What can I expect from an internship and why will it benefit me?

The internships will be:

  • approximately one month long.
  • starting on 8 January 2018 or very shortly afterwards.
  • four days per week.
  • will pay £10.30 an hour.

Most will be based at Royal Holloway but some will be with our employer partners.

All internships will offer professional work experience. This will involve the use of high level skills such as research, professional writing, marketing, data analysis or working with complex software.

All internships come with a personalised career development package so that interns are able to decide on their next career step and articulate the benefits of their degree and work experience to future employers.

4. How do I apply?

Apply via this link and answer the questions in the application form.

Please note:

  • You can only apply for two internships at any one time.
  • You must use a separate form for each application.

What happens next?

  • Applications will be assessed on a first come, first served basis.
  • We will take the first graduate who sends in an application for an internship that meets our minimum criteria. Early application will thus greatly increase chance of success.
  • We will endeavour to process your requests for assistance quickly. We will mark internships as under offer as soon as an offer has been made and remove when an offer is accepted.
  • It is very unlikely that you will be asked to interview for an internship, so you will hear whether you have been successful within five working days of application. Once an offer has been made please confirm acceptance within three days.
  • Closing date for applications is Thursday 30 November for us to be able to guarantee that we will be able to pay you in January. We can accept applications up until 23:59 on Thursday 7 December on the understanding that payment will occur in February. Please do not leave applying until close to this date as we will be making offers continuously through the application period. You will miss good internships if you delay applying.
  • After you accept an offer you will need to attend a 'Right-to-Work in the UK' interview. This will be arranged at a later point.
