Micro-Placements Scheme

Discover the Micro-Placements Scheme, open to all second year undergraduates

Are you a second year undergraduate student? The Micro-Placements Scheme can help you develop core career skills, boost your employability and empower you to secure a placement in your summer 2021.

Our award-winning initiative, the Micro-Placements Scheme takes you through a step-by-step process to improve your CV and Interview technique, developing professional skills and improving your career prospects after graduation. With no previous work experience required, the scheme empowers and equips you with the skills and confidence to secure your own two - four week work placement for summer 2021, a chance to experience a day-to-day professional environment and explore your career options.

Registration opened on 2 October and close 25 October. It’s quick and simple to register interest in the scheme. Start the application process by going onto the Careers Portal and selecting the Micro-Placements Scheme Pathway.

If you're unsure how to find the Pathway and start the process, you can view a quick video guide here.

Select the Micro Placements Introduction video. Then complete an Expression of Interest form and enrol onto the Moodle Micro-Placements Scheme course.

The selection process

As part of the selection process, you will learn how to enhance your CV and receive useful tips on how to succeed at interviews. Successful students will receive tailored and professional feedback on their CVs and interview practice from the Careers Team. The application process itself is a fantastic way to develop skills required for the job market, improve your employability prospects and increase your career readiness.

In alignment with the flexible learning delivery in the new term and to more accurately reflect the digitalisation of recruitment processes that have been introduced by employers, the scheme’s selection process will be moved fully online. This will also allow you to complete the scheme more flexibly around your studies and other extra-curricular activities.

We are committed to inclusivity and supporting students from all backgrounds. Every student who applies for the scheme will be supported throughout the process and in sourcing a placement. More information about Student Community support can be found here.
