You don’t need any previous experience on your CV – we’re here to help you maximise how to effectively and confidently talk about your skills, and empower you to secure a 2 or 4 week placement during the summer vacation.
How does it work?
The Professional Skills & Insights Programme is run entirely online, making it easy-to-access and flexible for you to fit around your studies! During Terms 1 & 2, you’ll develop core career skills through a series of levels to develop core career skills that will boost your employability. With a whole suite of resources and support along the way, the programme will help you figure out more about what you want to pursue after graduation and give you the practice and confidence of going through a real life simulation of the application process.
The core activities are hosted on an online ‘Pathway’, via the Careers Portal, which will also direct you to the programme’s Moodle course with additional materials. You can easily track your progress through the stages of the programme.
By Term 3, successful students who have completed all mandatory activities on the programme will have the chance to apply for insight placements advertised by the Placements Team, or submit their own proposal if they have arranged an experience themselves.
All completed placements are awarded a grant of up to £500 and travel expenses are also covered, so there is no cost to you.
Who is eligible?
The programme continues on from a previous, award-winning scheme, but with an improved focus on students who will benefit from the opportunity the most – supporting students from the following groups:
- Students of Black Heritage
- Students from low-income backgrounds
- Students who have registered with the College Disability & Neurodiversity Team
The Professional Skills & Insights Programme is open to 1st and 2nd Year Undergraduates for 2021/22.
APPLICATIONS CLOSED FOR 2021/22
