Royal Holloway, University of London, welcomes the public to explore its spectacular grade I listed Founder's Building, Picture Gallery, Chapel and extensive grounds. The Founder's Building, commissioned by entrepreneur, Thomas Holloway and opened by Queen Victoria in 1886, is modelled on the Château de Chambord in the Loire Valley. Its flamboyant architecture makes it one of the most impressive university buildings in the world.
The Emily Wilding Davison Building, located to the east side of the Founder's Building, will act as the welcome and information point for our Heritage Open Day. The Emily Wilding Davison Building is the home of the university's archive collections and also features a café for our visitors to enjoy.
The
Picture Gallery will be open for viewing between 11am - 5pm with talks by our curators, Dr Laura MacCulloch and Dr Imogen Tedbury, at 11.30am, 12.30pm, 1.30pm, 2.30pm, 3.30pm.
A series of tours will run throughout the day, please visit the information point from 11am on the day for tickets.

As in previous years, we are delighted to be working once again with colleagues at Virginia Park, the former
Holloway Sanatorium, which will also be open to visitors with ticketed tours at the following times: 12pm, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm, 4pm. Tickets must be collected from the information point in the Emily Wilding Davison Building at Royal Holloway.
All of these activities are free of charge and we look forward to welcoming visitors to Royal Holloway.
In addition to our free programme of talks and tours throughout the day, the following activities are available at a small charge.
A talk on Thomas Holloway's College (tickets apply, £2)

An illustrated talk to be held in our Windsor Building Auditorium. Tour guide and local historian Richard Williams will look at Thomas Holloway's life and highlight some of the significant changes the university has seen from foundation to the present day.
