Royal Holloway has developed a relationship with St Mary’s University, Twickenham – an Ofstedrated Outstanding teacher training provider.

Like Royal Holloway, St Mary’s is a relatively small, green campus university. It prides itself on its personal approach, and has strong links with over 700 local schools and excellent employability outcomes. 96% of its PGCE Primary students and 100% of its PGCE Secondary students are employed or in further study within six months of graduating (source: Destinations of Leavers from Higher Education, 2016/17).

Expert teachers from St Mary’s are available to help you navigate your training options and provide support through your application process. The team is also happy to welcome you to ‘taster’ PGCE events on the St Mary’s campus.

For some subjects, generous government training bursaries are available for PGCE students. This is in addition to a range of government-funded Subject Knowledge Enhancement courses, taken in advance of the PGCE starting, should you wish to change disciplines upon entering teaching. St Mary’s is close to Royal Holloway by car and public transport (Strawberry Hill and Twickenham stations) so you can continue to live in the local area while completing your teacher training.
