Come along to our Sustainability Discovery Session on Wednesday 20 November, from 1-4pm, in the Davison Building, to learn more about our sustainability-related research, discover how areas within the College are tackling sustainability and to find out more about what you’re able to do as an individual to become more sustainable.

Discover a selection of the internal and external stakeholders that will have a presence at the event:

Internal:

  • Our Estates team will be sharing the importance of protecting and enhancing nature, as well as demonstrating why it is important to help reduce our use of fossil fuels and synthetic materials
  • Our Catering team will be showcasing a series of zero waste recipes and the food waste app that they use within our food outlet kitchens
  • Royal Holloway Volunteering will highlight their different sustainability-related volunteering projects as well as providing information on foodbanks.

External:

  • Affinity Water will be highlighting ways that you can help to reduce water consumption
  • Grundon will offer an interactive insight into how waste gets processed and disposed of
  • PHS Group will provide information regarding their commitment to sustainability.

Academic research:

You will also have the opportunity to talk to a number of our academics about their sustainability-related research. Some of those attending include:

  • Professor Dave Morritt, Department of Biological Sciences, will be demonstrating the issue of plastic pollution in the Thames and Clyde Sea.
  • Dr Lauren McCarthy, School of Business and Management, will be showcasing research carried out with Divine Chocolate, and will provoke thought into the sustainability issues around chocolate.
  • Dr Rebecca Fisher, Department of Earth Sciences, will be explaining maps of methane levels around London and plots of the over 20 year record of methane and carbon dioxide measured from Royal Holloway.
