Royal Holloway has developed a relationship with St Mary's University, Twickenham, allowing you to train as a teacher by a university rated as 'Outstanding' for Teacher Training, while being based on our campus.

How it works

You can benefit from regular training from St Mary's while remaining on our campus. Expert teachers from St Mary's will be available to help you navigate your training options and provide support through your application process.

For some subjects, generous government training bursaries are available for PGCE students. This is in addition to a range of government-funded Subject Knowledge Enhancement courses, taken in advance of the PGCE starting, should you wish to change disciplines upon entering teaching.

St Mary's is close to Royal Holloway by car and public transport (Strawberry Hill and Twickenham train stations) so you can continue to live in the local area while completing your teacher training.
