Universities are places where contentious discussion and robust debate can take place, and in a diverse and multi-cultural university, we are strengthened by our ability to consider and engage with different perspectives.

However, when we take part in challenging, and sometimes controversial discussion and debate, we have a responsibility to be tolerant and respectful.

Views expressed must remain within the law and not descend into attacks on characteristics which are protected by law and which include, but are not limited to race, sex, religion or beliefs or disability.
