In response to the brutal killing of George Floyd and the global Black Lives Matter protests, students from the Department of Drama, Theatre and Dance have produced a video of four rehearsed readings from the Black Lives, Black Words initiative. The initiative is an artistic movement that spans across countries and continents, in which Black narratives are told by and in complete control by Black Artists with the mission in mind to empower all audiences. The performances were followed by a a discussion with Professor Lynette Goddard and Dr Melissa Blanco Borelli about the plays as activist responses to the Black Lives Matter movement. Watch the performances here.
