Services over the festive break

If you’re staying on campus or within the local area over the festive break, we have created a list of all the services that will still be open and the hours they will be operating.

Careers

• Careers will be open for online appointments until Thursday 23 December, then closed from Friday 24 December to Tuesday 4 January.

GP surgery 

• The on campus GP Surgery will close on Thursday 23 December and will re-open on Tuesday 4 January. During this time you can contact the Windsor practice of Clarence Medical Centre to access services. Call them on 01753 865773.

Hall Life 

• The Hall Life team is a term time only service. For practical help and advice please check out the practicalities section of the Living in Hall Guide.

Hall Receptions

IT

• Our IT team are here to answer your technical queries online, by email and on the phone. You can contact them at ITservicedeskroyalholloway.ac.uk. Find out their opening times, or use their LiveChat service to speak to someone online by visiting royalholloway.ac.uk/it.

Library

• The Library in the Davison Building will be closed 25-28 December 2021 and 1-3 January 2022. Opening hours on other days will be shorter than usual and you can always check the opening times on our intranet page. Founder's Reading Room will remain open 24/7 with swipe access. Students and staff can search the physical collection of materials and access digital materials from wherever they are, on any device through LibrarySearch. In addition to this the Library has a number of major databases, which you can access via the Databases A-Z page.
• You can easily contact the Library, including through our LiveChat. You can get help with searching, referencing and evaluating resources from our friendly Information Consultants.

Help in an emergency

If you are on campus, College Security operates, and is contactable, 24 hours a day, seven days a week for your protection. If there is an emergency on campus please call the Security Control Centre.

Royal Holloway Sport

• Closed Friday 24 December - Monday 3 January.

School Helpdesks

Physical School Helpdesks will be closed during the festive break (Monday 13 December - Thursday 23 December 2021 and Tuesday 4 January - Friday 7 January 2022), but during these dates, they will be operating phonelines on weekdays from 10am to 4pm, or you can contact them via email. They will then be fully closed from Thursday 23 December - Tuesday 4 January. You can find email and phone numbers for each School Helpdesk here. 

Security

• Available 24 hours, seven days a week
• For help in an emergency please contact Campus Security on 01784 443063.

Student Services Centre

The Student Services Centre will be closed over the Christmas period, from Friday 24 December 2021 to Tuesday 4 January 2022. We will also close at 3pm on Thursday 23 December and all day on Friday 17 December. 

Volunteering

• Outside of term-time our Volunteering Hub in Davison Building is closed
• You can visit the online Volunteering platform or email the Volunteering team at volunteering@royalholloway.ac.uk.

Wellbeing 

The Wellbeing department continue to offer support in the break between terms one and two but there are adaptations to how you can access support and we operate a slightly reduced service.

• Initial contact by teams over the break should be by email to team mailboxes - see contact details in the drop down boxes on this page.
• Emergency support options are detailed here including details of mental health crisis lines and support via Student Space (Student Minds).
• The online and in-person drop-ins pause and will re-commence on Monday 10 January 2022. 

All services will close for the Christmas and New Year period. From 5pm on Thursday 23 December 2021 until  Tuesday 4 January 2022 team mailboxes will not be checked. During this time urgent concerns can be emailed to supportingyou@royalholloway.ac.uk as this mailbox will be regularly checked. 

Please note this email should not be relied on for emergency or crisis contact and you should seek appropriate emergency support from external services or by contacting campus security if you are on campus.

Founder's Dining Hall 

• Closed from 11-24 December and from 26 December - 9 January 2021
• Open from 12-2pm for Christmas lunch on 25 December. 

Crosslands

• Normal opening hours until Friday 17 December
• From 20-22 December, and 4-7 January, opening hours will be 10am-4pm
• Closed from 24-28 December and from 1-3 January.

Cafe on the Square

• From 11-12 December, 17-23 December, 29-31 December and 4-9 January, opening hours are 10am-4pm
• From 13-16 December, opening hours are 7am-5pm
• Closed from 24-28 December and from 1-3 January. 

 Little Cafe on the Square 

• From 13-16 December, opening hours are 8am-5pm
• Closed from 17 December.

Kingswood Dining Hall / 8Bar9

• From 11-23 December, 29-31 December and 4-7 January, opening hours are 12-1.30pm
• Closed from 24-28 December and from 1-3 January.

The Hub

• Open from 11am-2pm only (no evening service) on 11 and 12 December
• Closed from 13 December - 7 January
• Term time service resumes on Saturday 8 January.

Kimiko Japanese Kitchen

• Closed from 22 December – 9 January inclusive.

Imagine

• From 20-22 December opening hours will be 12-4pm
• Closed from 23 December – 9 January.

The Van

• Closed from 3-12 December and from 17 December – 9 January
• Open 12-2pm from 13-16 December.

The Boilerhouse cafe

• From 13-16 December, opening hours are 10am-4pm
• Closed from 17 December – 9 January.

Union Shop

• The Union Shop will be open on reduced hours from Saturday 11 December - 23 December and Wednesday 5 January - Sunday 9 January (reduced hours are 8am-6pm)
• Closed from Friday 24 December - Saturday 25 December.

Packhorse 

• Open until 11pm on Thursday 23 December
• Closed until 12pm on Wednesday 5 January.
