Update on Thursday 23 March - Services now resumed

This week, we have experienced significant disruption to our usual services, including our intranets and timetabling.

We would now like to update students that the issues causing this disruption have been identified and resolved, and all services are now working as normal.

We’re sorry for any inconvenience this disruption caused, and thank you for your patience whilst we worked to get services up and running again.

Update on Wednesday 22 March 

We can now report that access to most disrupted services has been restored. The following services are now working as expected: 

  • Our student intranet 
  • Equella – for accessing past exam papers 
  • Extension systems – for requesting extra time for work submissions  
  • The university’s external website 

We are still working through some unresolved issues, and are aware that the following services are still impacted: 

  • Student payment card top ups on campus 
  • Kinetics – services available but maintenance is ongoing which may cause interruptions to service 

We will continue to keep you updated via social media and the intranet as we work through the remaining issues. Thank you for your patience whilst we work on this.

Update on Tuesday 21 March

Over the last two days, you will have noticed some disruption to our usual services, with some of our university systems being unavailable. This was caused by a server failure, originally due to power cuts in our local area. 

Affected services include: 

  • Contensis – our student intranet 
  • Scientia – timetables and room bookings (The exam timetable is now live) 
  • Equella – where you can access past exam papers 
  • Extension systems – where you request extra time for work submissions (you can submit extension requests by email in the meantime) 
  • Student payment card top ups on campus 
  • Kinetics – accommodation, parcels, all back-office services and web portals 
  • PFact research data 
  • ARX door access management (cannot update access or create replacement cards) 

We have been working hard to resolve this issue, and we are now beginning to bring back these services – including access to the student intranet.
