Professionals from the sports media industry detailed their journeys from university students to contributors to the highest levels of journalism and social media content creation in an event hosted by Active Lifestyle & Sport last week.
Featuring Rosie Tinbergen (freelance commentator, stadium announcer, journalist and podcast host), Scarlett Collins (Women's professional football social media content executive) and Jack Rathborn (Sports Editor at The Independent), students heard fantastic advice on how to grow their skills and experience to reach for roles in the competitive sports media industry.
Each speaker emphasised the importance of getting out and trying something new - take photos, try some commentary or support a sports club with their social media.
