Please join us to celebrate Royal Holloway, University of London’s status as a University of Sanctuary. In June this year, we were successfully awarded the accreditation and we now join over 70 UK universities in a growing network of university staff, lecturers, academics and students.

On Thursday 16 October (1.30pm-5.30pm at Annexe Moore), we will be holding a celebration event. We will begin with the official award ceremony, followed by a film showing of THE WALK and a discussion panel with creatives from Good Chance Theatre Company.

THE WALK follows the journey of Amal, a 12 foot giant puppet. Amal is a young refugee girl who is traveling from the Syrian border in Turkey, all the way across Europe, trying to find a home (https://togetherfilms.org/films/the-walk/).

The University of Sanctuary network has been developed through a partnership between City of Sanctuary, Article 26, Student Action for Refugees and others. The aim of the initiative is to develop a culture and a practice of welcome for refugees and others experiencing forced migration within institutions, the wider community, and across the Higher Education sector in the UK.
