A huge congratulations to our Royal Holloway Women's Football who were last night awarded the prestigious BUCS Club of the Year award!

BUCS Club of the Year recognises, a club that has demonstrated a commitment to development, leading to increased diversity and participation in its membership.

Our Women's Football have this year excelled in providing opportunities for students to get involved in a competitive and social sport, volunteering, employability workshops, charity fundraising and campaigning, as well as organising 47 events outside of their weekly activities! They not only offer all levels of activity in the sport itself, but have also led on amazing campaigns tackling mental health, eating disorders and involving themselves in #HealthyU.

Sophie Shapter, Women’s Football President 2016/2017 commented: “Winning this award means so much to everyone involved. So much so that it is hard to put into words, but I know that last night there were a lot of tears from the committee when they saw that we had won.”

“I was unbelievably proud/shocked and delighted that I was able to represent the club on the night and collect the trophy! This year we worked hard to raise money and awareness for two charities that were incredibly close to our hearts.”

“Without the passion and dedication from the committee, we would never have achieved what we did this season. It just shows that hard work really does pay off!”
