Profile

My experience with teaching started at the same time as my PhD in Mathematics, in 2009 at Brunel University London. My work involved teaching of Discrete and Decision Mathematics in Computer Science as well as Economics departments. In addition to that I was a tutor at the Academic Skills Service and was teaching mathematics at secondary schools. Part of my PhD research was to develop and evaluate computer-aided assessment with formative feedback. This allowed me to measure the engagement, facility and discrimination of the questions as well as the analysis of exam scripts.

I joined the CeDAS team in April 2015 and I am the programme leader for Maths, Stats & Numeracy. During the course of the year we offer support to all the students through workshops, 1:1 tutorials and drop-in sessions. My key interest is to increase students’ employability through the improvement of their numeracy skills. I offer diagnostic testing during first days at the University, workshops and labs on psychometric testing, but also workshops aimed at those going into teaching. In addition to that, I am coordinating a Specialist Interest Group (within SIGMA Network) working on the development of resources to enhance students’ employability skills.
