Profile

In 1999 I graduated from Cambridge University in Modern & Medieval Languages (German and Modern Greek), after which I studied for a TEFL Certificate and spent a year teaching English in Japan. On my return to the UK, I continued to teach EFL in private language schools and FE colleges in central London. In 2003/4 I completed a Master’s degree in English Language Teaching at Reading University with a view to specialising in teaching academic English and supporting international students at UK universities. Having gained experience on pre-sessional summer courses at both Reading and Brunel Universities, I began working at Royal Holloway in autumn 2005.

Since coming to Royal Holloway I have taught across a range of courses at CeDAS. In 2007-9 I led the In-sessional programme for international students, where I undertook work to improve how we promoted our courses across campus in order to reach the students who most needed them. From 2011-2014 I acted as Deputy Programme Director and later Programme Director for the then International Foundation Programme (run on campus by Study Group). My main role was to ensure that relevant academic QA processes were followed by Study Group. I am currently Programme Director for the Contemporary Britain suite of courses for Exchange and Study Abroad students.
