Identity Check
The Identity (ID) Check is compulsory for every student starting a new course at Royal Holloway. An Identity Check enables us to verify your identity, ensure that we have your correct personal details registered and confirms your right to study in the UK.
You should complete your ID check as soon as possible and at the latest by your School's latest arrival and enrolment deadline.
If you have missed the late arrival and enrolment deadline please see the information here on late arrival.
If you are starting a new course and the official start date is not Monday 22nd September 2025 or Monday 12 January 2026, you will be sent detailed instructions about how to enrol as the steps you need to follow may differ from the guidance below.
Documents you may need for your ID check
- Passport (or UK issued Travel Document)
- UK or Irish National Birth Certificate
- Share code (generate here) for eVisa verification
- Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA)
- Entry to UK evidence (Flight details or boarding pass)
How do I complete my ID check?
UK and Irish Nationals or students studying at our Central London campus:
You will need to submit your identity document(s) for verification via the online form below:
Complete the online Identity Check form
You will need to use the IT account details provided to you in your enrolment email.
Non-UK or Irish Nationals, studying at our Egham campus:
Any student that is not a UK or Irish national and who is studying at the Egham campus, will need to attend an in-person Identity Check.
You will need to attend this check in the Student Services Centre Monday – Friday, 10am to 4pm. Please note, over the winter break some of our campus services have different opening times. The Student Services Centre will be closed from 2pm on Tuesday 23 December 2025. It will be open as normal from 10am on Monday 5 January 2026. (Please see our winter break opening hours webpage for details of closure periods or changes to usual opening hours for other services.)
Please ensure you bring your current passport to the in-person Identity Check, along with any evidence of your most recent entry to the UK (such as a boarding pass, flight itinerary, or UK border entry stamp). This can be provided in either electronic or physical format.
International arrivals, please check your CAS carefully for the latest date of arrival. If you are unable to arrive in the UK by this date, please see the information about what happens if you don't enrol on time.
See our campus map for help with finding the Student Services Centre. The Student Services Centre is located on the ground floor of the Davison Building, opposite the Library.
Checking the status of your ID Check
You can view the status of your ID Check by looking at the Start of Session Checklist card in Campus Connect. If you are a UK or Irish national and have submitted your documents online, the Start of Session Checklist won't update immediately as your documents need to be processed by a member of staff. Your documents should be processed within 2-3 working days so please keep an eye on the checklist.
