Tuition Fee Payment

Guidance to pay your tuition fees

Tuition Fee Payment

To complete enrolment, you will need to arrange the payment of your tuition fees for the 2025/26 academic year. On this page you will find information about the different tuition fee payment types, as well as details of what you need to do in order to complete this step of enrolment.

Student Finance Loans

(for students who meet UK Government Student Finance eligibility criteria)

Student Finance Loan - Undergraduate Tuition Fee Loan

If you have confirmation from Student Finance that your loan is approved and you have completed Online Sign-up and your ID Check, you do not need to do anything further.

Student Finance Undergraduate Tuition Fee Loans are paid directly to Royal Holloway from the Student Loans Company. If you are receiving a Student Finance maintenance loan, this will be paid directly to you once you have completed all steps of enrolment and we have confirmed your attendance.

Please note that if you are an undergraduate student, you are required to apply for your tuition fee loan for each year of study.

For more information about paying your fees using Student Finance, please see our dedicated Undergraduate webpages.

See the information below on late applications and confirming your attendance to Student Finance.

Student Finance Loan - Postgraduate Master's Loan

If you are planning to use a Student Finance Postgraduate Master's Loan to pay your tuition fees, you must forward a copy of the approved loan confirmation to the Student Fees team before you can complete your enrolment. You can submit your documents through Ask Royal Holloway - simply click on the ‘Ask a Question’ button and upload your documentation.

You will need to provide the Student Fees team with a new copy of your entitlement letter each academic year so that we can ensure that the funding agreement is still in place.

We will confirm your registration at Royal Holloway to release your loan only once you have completed Online Sign-up and we have processed your Identity Check documents – the earliest this will be done is from the first day of your course.

The Student Loans Company will then pay your Master's Loan to your bank account.

You will then need to make a tuition fee payment to enrol as your tuition fees are not automatically paid to the University. For more information on how to make payment once you've received your loan, please see our how to pay your fees webpages or the information on paying your own fees below.

If the loan amount you are receiving each year is equal to, or more than your fees for the year, you can complete enrolment, your registration will be confirmed to the Student Loans Company and your tuition fees will be split into three equal instalments in line with the loan payments due to you.

For more information about paying your fees using Student Finance, please see the dedicated Postgraduate webpages.

See also the information below on late applications and confirming your attendance to Student Finance.

Student Finance Loan - Doctoral Loan

If you have applied for a Student Finance Doctoral Loan and are planning to use this to pay your tuition fees, please make sure you provide the Student Fees team with your approved loan confirmation prior to the start of your course. You can do this by clicking on the ‘Ask a Question’ button on Ask Royal Holloway and uploading proof of your approved loan.

Only after you have provided confirmation to the Student Fees team, completed Online Sign-up and your Identity Check, will we confirm your attendance to the Student Loans Company; the earliest we will do this is the first day of your course. In the interim, your Start of Session Checklist on Campus Connect will appear as incomplete.

Paying your own fees

The fastest and most secure method of payment is online via Epay, on the ‘Account Details’ card of Campus Connect or via a number of alternative payment methods. See the information below for further details.

Fee payment amount

If you choose not to take a tuition fee loan, you can opt to pay your tuition fees in two equal instalments (when the personal fee liability on a tuition fee is greater than £2000). You must make a first payment of at least 50% of the tuition fee to complete enrolment.

If you're enrolling for your course in September 2025, you'll need to pay 50% of your tuition fees by Monday 22 September 2025 to complete enrolment for the 2025/26 academic year. The remaining 50% payment is due by Monday 12 January 2026.

If you are enrolling for your course in January 2026, you'll need to pay 50% of your tuition fees by Monday 12 January 2026 to complete your enrolment for the 2025/26 academic year. The remaining 50% payment is due by 5 May 2026

See our helpful guide on how to calculate 50% of your tuition fees for some useful examples.

How to pay your fees

The best way to make payment is online via Flywire. Flywire is our preferred payment provider and you can access this payment option via Campus Connect, under the 'Account details' card. More information about the benefits of using Flywire can be found on our Pay my fees webpage. If you need help or have any queries about using Flywire, please contact Flywire directly. Your tuition fee invoices can be viewed and paid using this method by logging into your Campus Connect account.

Parents and third parties wishing to pay fees on behalf of a student can do so via  Epay (Flywire). When making payments, it is important that the Royal Holloway student ID number is provided so we know who the payment is for - this includes when making international payments.

Or we have the option for international students who wish to make an international bank transfer can do so via Epay (Flywire) and Convera GlobalPay as an alternative payment option. Further details about Epay (Flywire) and Convera and how to make a payment using this option can be found on our Pay my fees webpage.

Please see our Pay my fees webpages for full details on all payment options.

Sponsors

Sponsors (other than Student Finance) e.g. embassy, employer

If a third party (other than Student Finance), is paying part, or all of your fees, we must see the original letter confirming the level of your support before you start your course as outlined in our Fee payment guide. Please send proof of your sponsorship to the Student Fees team. You can contact them and upload your documents through Ask Royal Holloway - simply click on the ‘Ask a Question’ button.

For more information about how to provide these documents to us, please see our sponsor webpages. You can also see our sponsor letter template.

Postgraduate Research students - Studentships

Studentships

If you have received a studentship offer letter from Royal Holloway, please remember to return your acceptance form so that your fees can be recorded and updated. You can contact the Doctoral School and upload your acceptance form through Ask Royal Holloway - simply click on the ‘Ask a Question’ button.

If the studentship includes maintenance, make sure that you register your UK bank details on Campus Connect to avoid a delay in receiving your initial payment

Confirming your attendance to Student Finance

If you have an approved Student Finance loan for your tuition fees, please check you have completed the below steps. We will confirm your attendance to Student Finance at the start of your course. You do not need to contact us if you have done the below steps:

* On your Student Finance account check your loan has been approved for the correct course and academic year (2025/26). Also check you have signed and completed your online Declaration.

* On Campus Connect, check you’ve completed Online Sign-up

* You will also need to have completed your  Identity Check. Your Start of Session Checklist will update once a member of staff has reviewed and processed your document(s).

We will confirm your attendance only once both of the other steps of enrolment are complete (Online Sign-up and ID Check) and the earliest we will confirm your attendance is the first day of your course. This means that your Start of Session Checklist on Campus Connect will show as incomplete until we confirm your attendance.

Late applications for a Student Finance Loan

If you are paying your fees using a loan from Student Finance, you must ensure you have applied for the relevant loan in good time. It can take up to six weeks for Student Finance to process your application.

If you applied late, there may be a delay in you receiving confirmation of your loan. If this happens then it is important that you send the Student Fees team a copy of your loan entitlement letter/email as soon as you receive it. You can contact them through Ask Royal Holloway - simply click on the ‘Ask a Question’ button to get in touch and upload your documents.

Please note, if your loan has not been approved and depending on your loan application status, you may be required to make a payment to complete your enrolment, which will be refunded to you if the loan is approved.

Please make sure that you continue to liaise with the Student Loans Company and the Student Fees team, whether via email or in person at the Fees Clinics in the Student Services Centre (Egham campus) about your loan application to see if there is anything more they need from you.
