Enrolment for new students
Before you can start your studies, you must complete enrolment.
IT Services will first send your username and account details to your personal email address. The Student Services Centre will then send your enrolment email to your university email address. If you have not received either of these emails, please see information below.
Your enrolment email will explain the tasks you need to complete to become fully enrolled. You can begin these steps as soon as you receive the email. If you receive funding from Student Finance, delays in completing enrolment may affect your student loan payments.
- Students starting in September will receive their enrolment email in mid to late August.
- Students starting in January will receive their enrolment email in mid-December.
- Students starting at any other point during the academic year will receive their enrolment email before their course begins.
Complete your enrolment as soon as possible and no later than your Faculty or Subject enrolment deadline (see below).
Starting a new course at the University?
If you previously studied with us and are now beginning a new course, such as progressing from an undergraduate to a postgraduate programme, you should follow the instructions for new students below.
If you have received your IT account details, your enrolment email should be sent to your university email address within 2 working days. If it has been more than 2 working days and you have not received it, please contact Student Services at studentservices@royalholloway.ac.uk.
If you have not yet received your IT account details, please contact IT Services.
Enrolment tasks
Once you have received your enrolment email you will be able to complete the three tasks below.
Don't forget to submit a photo for your Student ID Card
Check your enrolment status
You can keep track of which enrolment tasks you have completed and check your enrolment status by viewing your 'Enrolment Checklist' card on Campus Connect. From your 'Home' screen, scroll down or search to find the 'Enrolment Checklist' card. This will show you which tasks you have completed and which (if any) are still outstanding.
The checklist will continue to update closer to the start of term. You can check this regularly to see it update and to see which enrolment tasks you’ve completed.
Enrolment deadline, late arrival and failure to enrol
You can find important information about your enrolment deadline, late arrival and failure to enrol below.
For students starting their degree course in September 2026, you should arrive for Welcome Week which commences Monday 21 September 2026. To complete enrolment, you should follow the enrolment tasks above.
The standard deadline to enrol at the University is 15 working days from the start of your course/start of the new academic year. However, please note that some Faculties or Subjects have set an earlier deadline due to the intensity of the course in the earlier weeks.
To check your Faculty or Subject's latest arrival and enrolment date, please see the relevant information below if you're an undergraduate or postgraduate taught student.
Courses commencing in September 2026
The latest arrival and enrolment deadline for all undergraduate and postgraduate taught students is Friday 9 October 2026, with the exception of the following courses and their respective deadlines:
-
MSc Occupational Therapy - Monday 28 September 2026
-
Accelerated BSc Business and Management - Friday 2 October 2026
-
MSc Digital Marketing - Friday 2 October 2026

All new students must enrol with the University (by completing the enrolment tasks above) at the start of the academic year. For details of the enrolment deadline set by your Faculty or Subject, see the information above.
Experiencing issues with enrolment
You must contact us as soon as possible to let us know if you're experiencing any issues with completing enrolment so that we can offer you the appropriate advice or support. You can visit Ask Royal Holloway and click on the ‘Ask a Question’ button to get in touch.
If you are not able to arrive and enrol by the deadline set by your Faculty or Subject, you will need to fill in a:
Please note that it is your responsibility to let us know if you are experiencing issues enrolling.
What happens if you don't enrol by the deadline
If you're unable to enrol by the deadline relevant to your course, without prior approval to enrol late and in the absence of medical or other good reason, this will result in you being deregistered from your course and closure of your student record. This may also mean that:
- You will not be entitled to use any campus facilities, including the Computer Centre, the Library, Campus Account facilities, the Students' Union, or attend lectures and seminars. Your access to University systems will also be revoked.
- For students who are sponsored by Royal Holloway for your student visa, this will be curtailed (cancelled and withdrawn) in line with the UK Visa and Immigration rules.
- There may also be implications for you if you are being sponsored for your tuition fees.
If you have received an email reminding you to complete any outstanding enrolment tasks, you should complete those tasks as soon as possible and by the date stated in the email to avoid your record being closed for non-enrolment. See the information above for details on how to complete enrolment if you're a new student.
For details on how to speak to someone in person about any enrolment issues, see the 'In person enrolment support' section below.
If you are still unable to join the University by the relevant deadline you may need to consider deferring your studies to the following academic year.
Student record closures
If you have received an email explaining that your record has now been closed, but you wish to continue with your studies, you may be eligible to apply for reinstatement; see our reinstatement webpage for further information.
Additional information for late arrivals
Please note:
-
For students who are due to live in Halls of Residence, you should also inform Student Accommodation of your delay.
-
Your late arrival and enrolment will not change your liability for tuition or accommodation fees.
If you will be arriving before your Faculty or Subject's latest deadline you should continue with your enrolment tasks and you don't need to complete the late arrival/enrolment request form.
