Arrivals day if you're living in Halls
We’ll email you before you arrive so you can complete your online Hall check-in, which gives you all the information you need to get into your Hall and into your room. When you arrive, you’ll need to visit your Hall’s key collection point with your arrival pass and your photo ID to collect your room key. You can then move into your room!
Whether you are moving in on the Saturday or Sunday, you’ll be asked to select a specific arrival time during your online Hall check-in. On the day of your arrival please arrive at the start of your timeslot with your car parking pass displayed on your windscreen – this will help us direct you to your Hall. You must arrive, register, get your keys and move into your accommodation during your slot.
Parking around Halls will be busy, so we’ll ask you to move your car to another parking area as soon as you’ve finished unloading your belongings. If you need to park for longer than your two-hour arrival slot, please ask one of our marshalls who will be able to direct you to longer stay parking off-campus. Arrivals parking will close at 8pm, so if your parents or friends are dropping you off they’ll need to have left by that time.
On your first evening you can look forward to a welcome talk and welcome meal, where you’ll meet fellow residents and find out more about living in your Hall.
Not moving into Halls?
If you’re living locally or commuting, you don't necessarily have to come onto campus on Welcome Weekend (Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 September), as you will be able to enrol throughout the rest of the week. If you are in the area and would like to come onto campus, there will be plenty of activities going on but your attendance isn't essential, so it's up to you. If you are planning to come onto campus, please travel by public transport as parking will not be available over the weekend. Most of your department activities will begin on Monday 23 September. There are also a variety of fun events taking place during the whole of Welcome Week, for example Freshers' Fair on Monday or Tuesday.

What if I absolutely can't avoid arriving late?
You’ll be missing out, but we may be able to make special arrangements if there's a good reason why you can’t get to Royal Holloway for your arrivals day. The last possible date you can enrol or move into Halls is Friday 11 October. Let us know as soon as possible at firstname.lastname@example.org and we can look into this further for you.
We would also recommend that you contact a Peer Guide from your department who can help you catch up on what you have missed and how to get started.
