Accommodation guarantee for 2022/23

We’ll guarantee you an offer of accommodation if you are a continuing student on a full-time programme and meet one of the following criteria for 2022/23:

  • A recommendation has been put forward on your behalf by Disability & Neurodiversity based on medical or disability need.
  • You are a Choral, Instrumental or Organ Scholar
  • You are enrolled on an Integrated Foundation Year programme and will be moving into Year 1 of your undergraduate degree programme in 2022/23. Please note that if this applies to you, you'll be able to submit an application for accommodation when the window for new students opens.

If you meet one of these criteria, to qualify for the guarantee you must submit an application for accommodation within the application window of Thursday 10 February and Thursday 3 March 2022.

If you have previously engaged with the Wellbeing department for a safeguarding or significant wellbeing issue (such as being the victim of crime) please contact the Adviser who supported you to discuss whether there are recommendations (not guarantees) for accommodation they can make based on your individual need.

We will also guarantee you an offer of accommodation as a continuing student if you are taking up one of the following roles or scholarships. Separate deadlines will exist and these will be communicated to you as part of the application process for these roles/scholarships:

  • Sports Scholar
  • Chapel Warden
  • Hall Life Duty Officer or Assistant
  • Sabbatical Officer

Accommodation priority for 2022/23

If you’re returning from a year abroad or a year in industry in 2022/23, in order to be prioritised, you must submit an application for accommodation within the application window of Thursday 10 February and Thursday 3 March 2022.

What if I miss the guaranteed or priority application window?

We won't be able to guarantee or prioritise applications received after the afore mentioned deadlines; you can still apply for accommodation after the window has closed but your application will be processed on a first-come first-served basis alongside all other applications.

When all available rooms have been allocated, any further applicants will be placed on a waiting list for consideration as soon as a room becomes available.

Regulations and eligibility

Under the Student Conduct Regulations, your application for accommodation will be rejected if you have received a penalty for misconduct which prevents you from living in Halls for the remainder of your programme.

Under the Student Fees Regulations, your application may also be rejected if you have previously defaulted on an accommodation fee payment whilst living in Halls.

Please note that the progression recommendation given by your department at the end of the 2021/22 academic year, and any decisions to interrupt or change to part-time study from the start of the 2022/23 academic year may impact your eligibility to live in Halls. If this applies to you, you will be sent an email with further details once the results and progression recommendations have been released in July onwards.

If for any reason your progression recommendation has not been confirmed for 2022/23 by the start of the academic year, you will not be eligible to move into your room in Halls until your progression recommendation and eligibility to live in Halls has been confirmed.
