Orientation and welcome programme
Studying overseas offers many exciting experiences but it can also be challenging to adjust to a new environment. Our international students' activities throughout Welcome Week are designed to ensure you settle in, find your feet, and make the most of your first few weeks at Royal Holloway.
Airport Pick Up
If you are arriving at London Heathrow Airport (LHR) on Saturday 16th or Sunday 17th September, Royal Holloway is offering a free airport pick-up service. Book your space here.
Welcome Tent
The Welcome Tent is your first port of call for information during Welcome Week. Situated in the South Quad of Founders Building, here you can pick up your Welcome Week lanyard and passport, find out what’s going on each day across campus, and speak to staff and current students.
The Orientation Programme
The programme includes orientation sessions to give you practical information about studying in the UK and living on campus. In addition, you will have the opportunity to meet other international and UK students at the many and varied social events taking place throughout the week.
In addition to the enormous variety of events that all new students can attend, the events below are a combination of specific sessions for international students to obtain information and advice and 'mixer' events where international students can meet home students in an informal setting.
6.00pm - 9.00pm | International Students Welcome | Medicine Bar (in the Students' Union)
This is a great opportunity to meet with international students both from your country, and from many others. The International Student Support Team will also be there to welcome you.
Orientation (see below for criteria) | Windsor Auditorium
Orientation for all Visiting Students (Erasmus, Study Abroad and International Exchange Students). Specific information for those students who are studying at Royal Holloway for just a semester or a year as part of a study abroad or exchange programme.

Academic expectations presentation | Windsor Auditorium
An important session for all international students; it will provide you further information on the UK academic system - how you will be taught, how courses are often structured, and what your course tutors will expect from you.
