Dissemination

The Coroico 2012 Workshop was designed as a model for opening up broad discussions about issues of culture, recognition, and control.  As a part of the project, materials from the workshop were prepared in summary and audio forms and then used in a series of different contexts.  Organizers also produced a first Alta-PI brochure in Spanish, explaining some of the issues that were discussed at the workshop  (Alta-PI brochure English translation). Workshop organizers held spin-off roundtable discussions at Café Semilla Juvenil (a community events café in San Pedro, La Paz) and took part in a meeting of the La Paz Department Council of Cultures (2012). Bernardo Rozo made similar presentations to parallel entities in Santa Cruz.

In 2013, CIDES-UMSA, a graduate school of the public university in La Paz, hosted a roundtable “Alternatives to Intellectual Property and the Appropriation of Knowledge” with presentations by Michelle Bigenho, Juan Carlos Cordero, Richard Mújica, and Bernardo Rozo, all from Alta-PI.  Juan Carlos Cordero organized discussions in Sucre, Potosí, and Tarija (2013-14). Iván Nogales, participant from Alta-PI was a key organizer in the 2013 First Latin American Congress of Live Communal Cultures in La Paz, Bolivia. Some Alta-PI participants, including Bernardo Rozo and Juan Carlos Cordero, organized a roundtable there on Intellectual Property and Copyright.
