Understanding your offer

Congratulations on receiving an offer from Royal Holloway!  The information contained on this page should help you better understand the offer we have made you.

Conditions of your offer

Your offer will either be unconditional or it may have certain conditions attached to it.  These conditions are typically:

  • Completion of an academic qualification
  • Achieving a certain level in an English language test
  • Sending further information such as copies of qualifications and references

Most students who apply will receive a conditional offer.  It simply means that we would like to offer you a place to study on your chosen programme, but do not yet have sufficient information from you to confirm that place.  As long as you meet all conditions of your offer, your place at Royal Holloway is guaranteed.

Your offer letter will clearly state the conditions that apply to your individual offer.  Once you have fulfilled any of the conditions, you should send proof immediately to the Admissions Office. Please enquire here for advice or more information.

English language conditions

If English is not your first language and you have not yet taken a recognised English language test, it is likely that a condition of your offer will relate to English language.

Where you have already taken an English language test, but not quite reached the required marks, you may be eligible to apply for an .  These programmes are four, eight or twelve weeks in length, and will bring up your English language to the required level, meaning you won’t need to re-take an English test in your home country.
