What to do if there is a problem
If you are having a minor issue and would like it to be addressed quickly, please email classics@royalholloway.ac.uk. The message will be picked up by our departmental manager who will pass on an annoymised version to the appropriate member of staff. This is also the way to let us know about problems with Moodle or TurnItIn, and to raise issues you would like considered at the Postgraduate Staff-Student Committee meeting so we can look into them for you in advance.
If you know that you have a disability or specific learning difficulty which may affect your work, it is important that you bring it to our attention as soon as possible. You will need to register formally with our Disabilities and Dyslexia Services team (DDS). If you suspect that you may have a disability or specific learning difficulty, then please get in touch with the DDS team, who will be able to advise on the next steps for assessment. Our departmental manager Mrs. Margaret Scrivner will be able to offer you advice and help with this process.
We know that other things may happen during your time with us that could impact your studies. The College offers a high level of student welfare support which includes a comprehensive Health Centre, a highly regarded Counselling Service, dedicated educational and disability support, as well as a wealth of financial, career and other advice. Of particular importance are the Student Wellbeing team, who can offer one-to-one support and advice, and the College Counselling Service, which offers our students a series of meeting with professionally trained counsellors.
You are always welcome to come and discuss any issues you may be experiencing with Mrs. Margaret Scrivner, the departmental manager, and Dr. Liz Gloyn, the Postgraduate Taught Director.
